Allow yourself to do more
People tend to react by saying "no" to things. Approaching things with negativity before anything else can't be a super boost of confidence, isn't it?
How often have you heard your boss, your friend, your family saying things like:
- "don't tell anyone what i told you"
- "don't mess this up"
- "don't do what you are not capable of"
Focusing on what we shouldn't do makes us spend way too much energy on what we should avoid instead on focusing on what good we can bring into a situation/project/idea with our power and energy.
It's hard to train your thoughts into selecting what to hear from what others are saying, especially if you are in a position where you are exposed to a lot of stress daily, but you can try:
- "what can i learn from what they told me?"
- "i want to do an amazing job, how do i do it?"
- "i will do always more than they expect"
It's not that you are fooling your mind, you are just training yourself to avoid stress and embrace new challenges. No one else is going to tell you how to adapt to new situations because whatever everyone else is telling you, it's up to you to practice and become better and better.
So try to focus on filtering your thoughts from unhelpful and negative to uplifting but realistic. That should be a good start to get closer to your goals without feeling too stressed!
